This first picture is just an update that I took when my sister, Andrea, had her baby on August 23rd.
This is the finished framed piece and the gift bag I put it in for my sister.
This past weekend my brother, Tony on the left, Elena, my daughter in the middle, and me on the right, went to my cousin's wedding in Albuquerque NM. It was a formal event. My cousin graduates from the UNM law school next May and her new husband is a lawyer already. They are so wealthy! I don't have any other relatives who are as wealthy as they are. But, the weekend was busy but lots of fun. While I was gone, I made it to the Michaels there and bought some more stitching stuff. Woo hoo.
I have no idea what the future will bring. My brother in the above picture turns 50 today. There is a birthday party/opening Bronco football game tonight.

It doesn't look right to me in the pix. But, I stitched it as close to the pattern as I could. Maybe the backstitching will help.

1. These pillowcases started from scratch a few weeks ago and almost done after putting the knots in the center of the flowers. Then, wash, iron and wrap up for the gift. They are a wedding gift.
2. This live love and learn that I screwed up is turning into a birthday present for my sister if I can get that done by the 1st.
3. The kitty cat I made for my friend who told me off and yelled at me right before I gave it to her!!!!! I threw out the pattern right after that. I never want to go near it again. I forgive her but have trouble with the forgetting part.
So I have my sister's gift to finish up.
My goals for the month of Sept:
1. Finish this easy pumpkin/halloween pattern. Should only take a week of dedicated stitching.
2. Finish up the pattern with the two scotties. Do you know anyone who likes dogs? I have no idea who to give that too.
My goals for October:
1. Christmas ornaments!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For these pillowcases it was both cross stitch and embroidery as you can see. The big pink hearts were regular cross stitch. The stems are the outline stitch which I learned how to do now. The leaves and flowers on it are the loop stitch. The middle of the bigger flowers is a buillion knot and I have never done them and have no idea how to do them now. I will see what happens there.
Truth be told! It would take me approximately a week to complete the other one. But, I have such a hard time with knots (not french knots) that I have to frog out a part and start all over. But, I got the hang of it with this first one.
Of course, to my eyes it isn't perfect but I hope that all of you cannot see my mistakes.
I am proud of myself for completing this as neatly as possible. I have learned patience makes almost perfect while stitching.
What do you think?

Here is the pattern
It is detailed but it shouldn't take me long if I am diligent. Something I lack. So far I have gotten almost the 3 flowers but I bought the wrong color pink so I have to run to the store for the right color. I am making sure not to carry over too much floss on the little flowers. But, they are the loop stitch which is one of my favorite embroidery stitches. The little green stems require a very small stitch so I expect some frogging there till I get it right.
But overall, I am proud of myself for this. My work looks neat and clean so far. I have had to use an indelible amount of patiece but it is worth it! The pics will come soon.
This is the best! It has been a fantastic form of therapy to straighten out the wild terror going on inside my mind. It really helps to focus on something so tidious and then realize that not only do I feel better but my work looks good too.

Now I don't know if you can see this part. But, all of the flowers, 3 sets of them, have to face vertical and I need room to stitch them all in. I have to take it out and start over.
But there is an addendum to this. I am going to finish stitching the middle piece, cut it off and finish it. Buy a frame for it and give it to a loved one. I have 7 brothers and sisters and out of all of them 3 have received gifts from me. Most are in ill health with cholesterol and high blood pressure issues so I am going to stitch LIVE! on top to encourage them to take care of themselves better. ;)
TTFN! whoo whoo whooo whhoooooo as pooh bear says
This is the unfinished WIP that came with the pattern so someday I would like to do it.
These are some of the patterns and booklets. Things like swans, and farm animals. Home with the heart (???) kind of patterns. Hard for me to describe.
These are some of the fabrics she gave me! I love it so much! Blues, creams, whites... great. There is Aida and I think there is evenweave and linen. I don't know the difference so I will post pics of that later on so you can help me figure out what they are.
This is the idea for my gift for the bride and groom.
All things have come to a halt! My cousin is getting married in a lavish formal wedding in Albuquerque NM. So I have put all xs projects into a bin. They are being moved and hidden. I found a pillowcase set I have that is rather simple so if I diligently work on it I will get it done. Wedding is Sept 5th and today is Aug 4th (anniversary of my grandfather's death in 1999) so I am getting to work on it.
I will post photos of that soon.
In the mean time, the Live, Love and Learn???? OMG! I stitched backward - instead of starting with the material going horizontal I went vertical. So now there is not enough room to stitch the whole piece.
My solution? Instead of frogging out all I have I am going to finish the middle piece and give it to someone. Not sure who yet. It will be a small gift for someone. Then at some later date I will do it right.

There is a lot of aida. Blue colors and cream colors. There is a small piece of linen which I have wanted to use and try to see if I can do it, so there it is. There are patterns. A WIP with the original pattern with it. A lot of the patterns are very old! Some of them are marked as old as 1988 and older. There are lots of patterns though. I was smiling for about 30 mins. after I got it.
There is a card to list all of the DMC floss numbers and colors. It is so cool.
There is a higher power that can find ways to brighten your day even when you feel hopeless.
Have a good night!

Here is a copy of the back side. I am still working toward doing well. But, I think it is much better then the pillowcase I first started out doing a few years ago. I wish I could rip it out and start all over again with that one. But, I think after washing it the pattern washed away.
One of these days when I feel all anxious and impulsive I may just do that! It is scary to remember the past compulsive actions I have taken.
I am supposed to be working on a spring SAL. The floss I needed came in the mail today. I used to much the first time frogging it all out. So I sent an email to Dimensions and they sent me more floss.
How are you?

I decided last night on impulse to tear out everything that I had already done on the teddy bear. From this point on I am never taking it out again. That was like the 6th time taking it all out. So after working on it today for several hours I got alot done.
I worked on it at the orthodontist while Elena got her braces removed then I worked on it for a good while as I was watching TV. I have decided to take a break.
This picture on the left is a copy of the back side. I am so glad it looks better. There is much room for improvement but it is better then the very first time! Trust me.
Happy stitching as they say in group

I decided to get back to the bibs. Since I started stitching again and working on the Live Learn and Love seems like my "skills" are getting better. I am more confident too. So I took pictures to show. I am showing the back because it looks better. Also, I am thinking of frogging the outside darker brown to make it a little neater. We will see.
Tomorrow Elena gets her braces off. It will take awhile. So I will take a xs project to work on. Have no idea what yet.
I worked on this for about 90 minutes before knots and miscounts started. So I stopped to take these pics and update my blog.
The front. Can you tell the difference in colors? It is hard to see. The edges should be a shade darker. It is hard to stitch because the colors are so similar. If it were not for the pattern I would get surely lost.
Here is a pic of the back. I can see a difference between where I started again vs. what I had already done. The straight lines are what I accomplished tonight. I am thinking of taking out the darker brown and stitching that all over again. We shall see.
Reason I want to frog it, is because the family I am giving this to is very crafty. The grandma and aunt of this baby are avid knitters. I am wondering if they will look at the back and "critique" it, know what I mean. What do you think?
Hopefully I can continue to feel better.
Thanks to you who commented on my last update. I needed your strength and support to get thru it and it really helped.

I have not been well. 2 years ago Janet was really there for me when I was hurting. She loves cats. And she has a male cat those same colors. This cat is female with flowers but who cares. She is a dear friend. I hope she likes it. It was interesting to do. There are a few mistakes but I am not perfect.
I hope she likes it!

She has a 99% average in Algebra now. So she signed up for Geometry and the teacher let her in. I am very excited and proud of her. She works so hard in school. I am somewhat leery though. She can be very dingy. She does go around and show off her science speak. She talks about potential energy here and there, and minerals this and ozone that...on and on. She loves her science and math! I am so happy. I think she would be a great teacher. But, she thinks otherwise and at the time now she wants to study biology in college. She gets very excited talking about college.
We will see what the future holds for her.

I managed to stitch while watching the news. They have been reporting these tornadoes all afternoon. It is so sad. So much damage. They say one person was killed. 'tis tornado season in this part of the country.
I decided to work on the gold border for now. I am working at the bottom part. I may start on the right leaf above the bottom. I will see. It is nice to stitch.
So here are some updates
Tuesday, May 20, 2008
This first picture is my new niece. She is now 5 months old. She was born Dec 27th. Her name is Gianna Noelle.
I took this photo when we were down at my mother's old homestead near Mesa Verde National Park in south west Colorado. There is a horse back there. I don't know if you can see it. And, the mountains in the back are called the La Plata mountains.
I took this photo when Elena and I went to Telluride for the day last summer to visit my brother. The weather was bad. Overcast so my pics didn't come out as good as I wanted them to.
Here is a picture of my cousin Robert. I made him the geckos a few years back. He liked them. He is an avid fisherman so if I can find a simple fishing pattern for him that would be super - cool.
Here is a copy of the finished product
Here is a copy of my latest work
I have been working on my April goals. I am working on the Live Learn and Love which you can find in my July 2007 post. I will take some good photos and post them when I am done procrastinating.
I have to clean my room. It is a mess. But, a freaking cat sprayed my window! I am so mad. I like cats, but this pisses me off. So sometime soon I have to get that done.
I am looking for a new template. The green here is little to be desired.
The PM. I haven't worked on it. Getting started on these things is hard. But, I have a rhythm going on the Live Learn and Love. You will see when I get the pictures up.
Have a great night! Happy stitching as they say.

But, with the latest finish I am inspired to stitch.
Goals for April 2008:
- Live Learn and Love - at least the middle part
- Precious Moments
- (if I get really bored) a kit with 2 black terriers. I don't know if they are Boston Terriers. But, they are black terriers with pointed ears and they have short legs so they are close to the ground. I think they are cute. But, I have a serious feeling that the count is off. I will see.
But, here it is:
I will find a nice frame for it. I decided not to do the purse. I also found a recipient! I have a dear friend named Janet. She is always there for me. She has seen me crying, angry as all get out, happy, joyful and everything in between. She is also my on-call psychiatrist. She is a dear friend.
She has a male cat. His name is Dante. He is colored black and taupe like my kitten. So I made for her a female companion for her Dante.
As soon as I get the frame ready and get it ready to present as a gift I will post it.
Thanks for your help and support.

I seem to be getting rather frustrated with this. I am not sure why.
But, I am glad I am working on it. Up close it really isn't that great. But, I guess from far away it is not that bad.
Carry on...I will work on this later. I have reached my 60 to 90 minute stretch of cross stitching. If I stitch again the pattern gets confusing.
FYI - the light blue you see in the middle is part of a flower. I am working on it. It looks kinda "too blue" for me.
Thanks to all my cross stitching friends from everywhere for your input and help.
Have a great day!

I am going to stitch it right hopefully. I did buy new colors for the face. I find it awkward that the cat is two different colors. It doesn't look natural to just have a white face.
I will post more pix as I work on this.
Thanks for the tips!

I am getting frustrated yet again. I don't think I am counting right. But, I thought I was.
Take a look...
I am trying to work on the face now.
I changed colors! I couldn't stand the orange. So I am using these colors. My friend has a male cat with those colors, black and taupe, so I think I am giving it to her.
I am using the picture as my pattern guide. The pattern that came with it is really hard to read.
Any suggestions on how to do the face?
